Why Young People In Mizoram Are Rooting For Zoram's People Movement Party
Poll-bound Mizoram has traditionally been marked by a two-party electoral battle between the Mizo National Front (MNF) and the Congress. However, the northeastern state is now witnessing a transformative shift with the rise of the Zoram's People Movement (ZPM), a young party that is contesting all seats in the upcoming assembly elections. The party's chief ministerial face is 74-year-old IPS officer-turned-politician Lalduhoma. As an IPS officer, he was once in charge of the security of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Later, he also became the first parliamentarian in India to be disqualified under anti-defection law. NDTV's Ratnadip Choudhury finds out how his party is attracting young voters.
